I have finalized dates for Norway: I fly out of LAX on the 20th of August. Melissa leaves for Paris on the 17th, Andrew sometime early september . . . baby we are GOING places!
Tonight I drank hot sweet tea and smoked my pipe under the moon. I looked through my little green box of postcards I've been saving for years. I didn't want to use them until I traveled, and tonight I looked at each one and imagined who I'd send it to and what I'd write.

My father wants me to make myself a website for while I'm in Norway. I'll post news there, writing that I wouldn't mind anyone reading ("Grandma friendly"). For awhile I thought I'd keep this quinquennial livejournal too, but I'm actually reconsidering. I'm done with writing every detail . . this year I just want to LIVE everything and not be bent over a diary or computer, trying to record each precious moment. Besides, I'd rather save my thoughts for real letters to send to people every once in awhile. Although I've decided that those shouldn't be very many either, to try to prevent gigantic homesickness.
There are polar bears in Norway, did you know that?

As for your abandoning of Livejournal, I've decided that I'll probably keep mine. Not in the sense of writing "each precious moment" but to tell the people back in the states what is going on with me. IE teachers, Parents, Friends, Students...etc. It'll probably be my major form of communication to some of those people. Yes others will be recieveing emails and possibly phone calls, but to the masses Livejournal will be it.
Polar Bears in Norway...eh? Sounds kinda Canadaian to me.
